Basic Clinical Certificate Program
Program Description:
The basic certificate introduces IFTCC Learning’s 3 main goals for preparing clinicians for therapeutic practice with diverse populations. The Clinical Basic Certificate includes a broad range of topics providing essential knowledge for ethical clinical practice, practice management, and public education from a
distinctly biblical worldview.
IFTCC Learning Competencies:
● Clinical Practice Learning Goals: Participants will be able to ethically apply several evidence-based mainstream psychotherapy approaches to culturally diverse client populations’ presenting issues and to clinical supervision and mentoring practice.
○ A4 Clinical skills: Workshops, seminars, and presentations at the basic level will focus on principles of counselling, including empathy, therapeutic alliance, promotion of client, autonomy and self-determination, boundary-setting and self-care, referral indicators, and application of legal and ethical guidelines.
● Practice Management Learning Goals: Participants will be able to describe a breadth of challenges and opportunities, solutions and necessary skills for managing a private practice.
○ A5 Basic Practice Management: Workshops, seminars, and presentations at the basic level will provide an opportunity for practitioners to conduct a cost- benefit analysis of beginning a private practice. Common concerns, challenges, ethical considerations, and financial issues will be considered.
● Ethical Activism & Public Education Learning Goals: Participants will exhibit the ability to advocate for vulnerable populations through public education and advocacy campaigns within the scope of professional and legal boundaries.
○ A6 Effective Communication: Workshops, seminars, and presentations at the basic level will focus on communication methods and styles for a variety of presentation platforms and explore methods of dissemination of information. Plagiarism, copyright, and intellectual property rights will be emphasized.
