Are you considering the step into private practice as a Christian counsellor? This course serves as a capstone within the Clinical Basic Certificate, equipping learners to thoughtfully consider the foundations of entering private practice as a Christian counsellor. Rather than focusing on business development or implementation, the course guides learners through a process of discernment, helping them understand the personal, ethical, and professional responsibilities involved in private practice.

Drawing on biblical principles, clinical ethics, and insights from experienced practitioners, learners will explore key questions of calling, readiness, and stewardship. The course introduces essential concepts such as legal and ethical requirements, practice structures, and the importance of ongoing supervision and personal formation. Throughout, emphasis is placed on cultivating self-awareness, maintaining professional integrity, and pursuing sustainable, Christ-centred practice.
This course fulfills the following learning goals:

1. Define key motivations and considerations involved in pursuing private practice as a Christian counsellor (IFTCC A5).
2. Describe the personal, vocational, and spiritual factors that contribute to readiness for private practice (IFTCC A5).
3. Identify fundamental legal, ethical, and professional requirements that govern private clinical practice (IFTCC A5).
4. Describe the basic structures and components of a private practice, including service models and operational considerations (IFTCC A4, A5).

5. Identify the role of supervision, ongoing development, and self-care in sustaining ethical and effective clinical
practice (IFTCC A5).
6. Explain the importance of aligning private practice decisions with biblical principles of stewardship, humility, and
