About Course

In this lesson, Michael Gasparro will explore the links between Same-Sex Attraction (SSA) and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), comparing their aetiologies in conjunction with attachment styles and affirmation, and the theories behind the emergence of each. He will also evaluate why other methods might work better than a traditional Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) method, and the philosophical/moral factors affecting OCD in relation to SSA.

Proposed Learning Objectives

  • 1. Review claims on Attachment Theory and Emotional Affirmation Theory, and the overlaps between them
  • 2. List some other possible contributing factors to SSA and OCD development
  • 3. List some successes related to attachment-based therapy integrated with cognitive behavioural therapy for SSA and OCD
  • 4. Describe the possible links between SSA and OCD, and any moral/philosophical factors affecting them
