Pathway 2B – Guidelines for the Diagnosis and Therapy of Children with Gender Identity Problems. Presentation of ‘SPCh Standards’ [P2B-24-25]

“Guidelines for the Diagnosis and Therapy of Children with Gender Identity Problems. Presentation of “SPCh Standards.” Parents, teachers, clergy, and even mental health professionals are lost in a confusion regarding gender identity problems in children and adolescents. In addition, only one path of professional help is being pushed, hiding its riskiness, lack of theoretical and empirical foundations, and neglecting others. I will present a ready-made holistic tool that can be a guide, especially for professionals, in terms of detailed diagnosis and therapy – a tool that has been greatly lacking. Prepared by an interdisciplinary team and available in English, the SPCH Standards operate in the classic cause-and-effect model of responsible medicine and psychology, not experimental and decontextualized “medicine on demand” – like other standards of care, which I will also briefly discuss. Oprócz tego forsuje się tylko jedną ścieżkę profesjonalnej pomocy, ukrywając jej ryzykowność, brak podstaw teoretycznych i empirycznych, a lekceważąc inne. Przedstawię gotowe holistyczne narzędzie, które może być przewodnikiem, zwłaszcza dla profesjonalistów, w zakresie szczegółowej diagnozy i wskazówek do terapii – narzędzie, którego ogromnie brakowało. Przygotowane przez interdyscyplinarny zespół i dostępne w języku angielskim Standardy SPCH operują w klasycznym modelu przyczynowo-skutkowym odpowiedzialnej medycyny i psychologii, a nie eksperymentalnej i oderwanej od kontekstu „medycyny na życzenie” – jak inne standardy  pomocy, które także pokrótce omówię.
