- Youtube videos for topics support – no IFTCC presentation This course introduces learners to the foundational principles of survey research within psychosocial contexts. Survey methods are widely used to explore human experiences, beliefs, and behaviours, particularly where internal states cannot bedirectly observed.
Throughout this course, learners will develop a clear understanding of how survey studies are structured, including sampling, question design, and the role of self-report data. They will also learn to recognise common limitations such as bias, issues of reliability and validity, and the ethical considerations involved in collecting and interpreting survey data.
This course fulfills the following learning goals:
- Define survey research and describe its purpose in psychosocial studies (IFTCC A1, A2, A3).
- Identify the key components of a survey study, including sample, questions, and responses (IFTCC A1, A2).
- Recognise common survey designs and basic sampling strategies (IFTCC A1, A2).
- Describe different types of survey questions and response formats (IFTCC A1, A2).
- Identify basic sources of bias in survey research (IFTCC A1, A2).
- Explain the concepts of reliability and validity in simple terms (IFTCC A1).
- Recognise key ethical principles in survey research, including informed consent and data protection (IFTCC A1, A2).
- Describe the limitations of survey findings, particularly in relation to self-report data and interpretation (IFTCC A1, A2).
