BRE 204 Introduction to Evaluating Research

This course provides learners with foundational skills for critically evaluating research used in psychological and psychosocial research. Learners will explore key components of the research process, including research design, methodology, data analysis, and interpretation of findings. Emphasis will be placed on distinguishing between qualitative and quantitative approaches, recognising common biases and limitations, assessing the credibility of sources, and identifying ethical considerations in research. Learners will practice interpreting and critiquing research, preparing them to be informed consumers and ethical users of scholarly work.

2. Identify components of research design in published studies (IFTCC A1, A2, A3).
3. Distinguish between qualitative and quantitative research (IFTCC A1).
