About Course

This course examines the critical distinction between correlation and causation in psychological and psychosocial research. Learners will explore how to identify when — and if — causal claims can be made. Core topics include research design (e.g., experimental vs. observational studies), confounding variables, statistical controls, and the misuse of causal language in published research and media. Emphasis is placed on developing the skills necessary to critique research claims and communicate findings with precision and integrity. Case studies and real-world examples will guide learners in applying these concepts in clinical and other professional settings.
